Summer Swap

The Obstacle

Years, lives, and schedules come in seasons. What works for one season can get in the way of another.

We become set in our routines. Solid. Rigid. Unbending. We get comfortable with how things are done. Then something changes.

The schedule no longer works. The routine no longer fits. The demands are different. Frustration. Anxiety. Stress. We feel behind.

We struggle because what used to work no longer works. Focus fades. Creativity shrinks. Performance suffers.

We spend energy fighting reality instead of adapting to it.

Seasons change.

The Gift And Opportunity

Summer is here. Seasons change. Change can be good.

Rather than fighting the current, we can reassess. An opportunity to do things a different way. On a different schedule. With different people.

An opportunity to reset priorities. Revisit values. Adjust boundaries. Set new goals.

Not abandoning who we are. Adapting while remaining true to our ethos and values. Changing with the season.

The kids are home. The rhythm of the last ten months is gone. The schedule that was dialed in no longer exists.

There is an initial wave of frustration. Anxiety. Resistance. But there is also opportunity.

To reassess what is available. To redesign the schedule. To create new goals for connection and growth. To spend intentional time together. To help the children become something more over the summer rather than simply pass the time.

The Practice Of Self-Mastery

• Sense the season

• Accept reality

• Adapt the schedule

• Keep the values

CHEAT CODE: SEASONS CHANGE → ACCEPT REALITY → KEEP THE VALUES → CHANGE THE STRATEGY

The Why

We would not wear a winter coat when the temperature reaches 100 degrees. We change our clothes because the season changed.

Life is no different.

When the season changes, the schedule must change. The routine must change. The approach must change.

Not because something is wrong.

Because growth requires adaptation.

Summer is here. Put away the winter coat. Put on the swimsuit. Jump in.
