It's Too Early
“All fools have one thing in common: They are waiting to start.” — Seneca

The Obstacle
We want to begin. We want to quit. We want to change.
We'll start that tomorrow. We'll quit that at the end of the week. We'll change at the New Year.
We're always waiting.
It feels too early to start.
The Gift and Opportunity
We can start now. We don't have to wait another minute or another day.
We needn't wait until the New Year to become.
The Practice of Self-Mastery
• Notice what we're waiting for
• Stop waiting for the next marker
• Focus on what we can do now
• Start now
CHEAT CODE: NOTICE → STOP → FOCUS → START
The Why
It feels like there's always just one more thing to wait for. The next hour, the next day, the next holiday, the next birthday, the coming New Year.
When I want to make a big change, or any change at all, it always feels like it's just too early to start. I wait until that next marker on the calendar because it seems to make more sense.
It's been this way all my life, and I'm not sure why.
Having this shoulder injury drag on makes me want to wait until my shoulder is better to do that next workout, that next thing.
I have a gift in that my limited strength, explosion, and range of motion force me to do something else. To focus on endurance, speed, legs, mind, breath.
And yet, I keep waiting.
It's not too early. I can start now.
