Take Aim
“It is not enough to be busy. So are the ants. The question is what are we busy about?” — Henry David Thoreau

The Obstacle
We have days without direction.
Some days are not oriented around specific tasks or a specific direction.
Schedules get thrown off.
Objectives are unclear.
It can be difficult to focus or remain productive.
We can feel rudderless, drifting without direction.
The Gift And Opportunity
There are things in life we don’t have time for.
Large goals that need to be accomplished can feel overwhelming.
In days without distinct direction, we can remember to aim at something important.
Or take care of things that have been pushed down the to-do list over and over.
Days like these can provide opportunities to accomplish something important or work toward goals that we don’t usually have time for.
The Practice Of Self-Mastery
• Notice the lack of direction
• Aim at something important
• Take care of what has been pushed down
• Use the day with direction
CHEAT CODE: NOTICE → AIM → TAKE CARE → USE THE DAY
The Why
I went to bed alone last night to an empty house.
My entire schedule seemed to be thrown off because I was alone when I woke up.
No children to talk to or make breakfast for in the morning.
No activities to help them with.
There was no batting practice, throwing, soccer, art, or any of the other things that would normally take up space in my day.
It felt empty and a little bit lonely, but I was able to use this time to focus on other things that don’t normally get attention in my life.
