Loss of Balance

“Many things can cause a loss of balance. One cause is danger, another is hardship, and another is surprise. You must research this.” - Miyamoto Musashi

This is true in single mortal combat, war, and peace. The universe and man will seemingly conspire to knock us off balance through conflict, perception, judgment, opinions, emotions, failure, setbacks, a lack of skills, time, or knowledge, and the intentions or actions of others.

Plan for setbacks, emotions, judgment, opinions, and sabotage. We know they are coming and can prepare for the strike. We can even prepare for the unseen, the surprise. Our practice prepares us to recenter.

The Practice of Self-Mastery is balance, recentering, and recalibrating, regardless of the cause. Hand off the hot stove, accept or convert, what's needed now, act.
